No one will argue against the benefits of having good access to up-to-date data for data mining and business intelligence applications. Unfortunately, not all enterprise regulatory systems fill this need. Approach
Many agencies try to build their own "reporting" databases based on simple data exports and imports. There are several problems associated with this the biggest being that the data is always stale - sometimes by a day or more.
The next biggest problem is that this approach does not scale. Large agencies run out of hours in the night to refresh the reporting database and are also plagued with operations challenges - there are not enough hours in the day.
